This Privacy Policy explains what information Fashionft collects when you visit fashionft.com (the “Site”), how we use and share it, and your choices and rights.
Who We Are
Fashionft is an independent buying-guide site about fashion accessories, mainly bags, leather goods and travel accessories. We do not sell products, take orders, ship items or handle returns. Fashionft is the controller of the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at:
- Email: contact@fashionft.com
- Phone: (801) 273-0100
- Mail: Fashionft, 1377 E 3900 S # 100, Salt Lake City, UT 84124, United States
Information We Collect
Information you give us
- Contact form: your name, email address, topic and message. Messages are emailed to our team and stored in the Site’s admin area.
- Comments: your name, email address, optional website and comment text.
- Emails: your email address and anything you include in your message.
Information collected automatically
When you visit, our servers and service providers receive standard log data: your IP address, browser type, device and operating system, pages viewed, time of visit and the referring URL. When you comment, WordPress also records your IP address and browser user-agent to help detect spam.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cookies are small text files your browser stores on your device. The Site may use:
- Functional WordPress cookies: if you choose, comment cookies remember your name, email and website for your next comment. WordPress also sets cookies for logged-in users, such as our editors.
- Analytics cookies: set by Google Analytics or a similar service to measure visits and usage.
- Affiliate cookies: third parties, including Amazon, may serve content, collect information directly from you, and place or recognize cookies on your browser, for example to credit us for a purchase after you click a link. They, not Fashionft, control these cookies.
- Performance and security technologies: used by caching and security services to load pages quickly and block abuse.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though saved comment details may then stop working.
How We Use Your Information
- To reply to your messages and requests.
- To publish and moderate comments and filter spam.
- To operate, secure and improve the Site and learn which guides readers find useful.
- To earn affiliate commissions through retailer links.
- To comply with the law and enforce our Terms and Conditions.
Legal Bases for EU and UK Visitors
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, we rely on these legal bases under the GDPR and UK GDPR:
- Consent: for non-essential cookies, such as analytics where consent is required, and for saving your comment details. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests: to run, secure and improve the Site and moderate comments, where your rights do not override those interests.
- Contract or your request: to respond to a message you send us.
- Legal obligation: where the law requires us to keep or disclose information.
Analytics
We may use Google Analytics or a similar service to see how visitors find and use the Site. These services give us aggregated reports, not your name or contact details. Where the provider offers it, we use settings that limit or mask how IP addresses are stored. You can opt out of Google Analytics on all websites with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Affiliate Links and Third-Party Sites
Fashionft participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. We may also join other affiliate programs. Commissions never change the price you pay and never decide our rankings. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
When you click a retailer link, you leave our Site, and that retailer handles your information, including any purchase, payment and shipping details, under its own privacy policy. We never receive your payment details.
Embedded Content
Some articles may include embedded content, such as YouTube videos. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited the other website, which may collect data about you, use cookies and track your interaction with it, especially if you are logged in there.
Comments and Gravatar
Your comment name, optional website and comment text appear publicly; your email address is not published. Comments may be held for moderation and checked by spam filters. WordPress may send a hash (a scrambled string) of your email address to the Gravatar service to see whether you have a profile picture to show next to your comment (see the Automattic privacy policy). To have a comment edited or removed, email us.
How We Share Information
- Service providers that help us run the Site, such as hosting, email delivery, analytics, and performance, caching and security services, acting on our behalf.
- Legal requirements: when the law, a subpoena or a court order requires it, or to protect our rights, readers or others.
- Business transfers: if Fashionft is involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, your information may transfer with it and stay subject to this policy unless you are told otherwise.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under California law. There is currently no advertising network on the Site, and we will update this policy before adding one.
How Long We Keep Information
- Comments are kept indefinitely unless you ask us to delete them.
- Contact messages and emails are kept as long as needed to respond, then deleted within a reasonable time. Messages saved through the contact form are deleted from the Site automatically after 12 months.
- Analytics and server log data are kept according to the retention settings of our analytics, hosting and security providers.
We may keep information longer when the law requires it.
Data Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information, such as encrypted connections (HTTPS), limited admin access and regular software updates. No website is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access your personal information and get a copy.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Delete your personal information.
- Portability: receive your data in a structured, commonly used format.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that happened before.
If you are in the EEA or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection supervisory authority. To use any of these rights, see “How to Submit a Privacy Request” below.
U.S. State Privacy Rights
California. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to delete or correct it; to opt out of its sale or sharing; and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
The categories we may collect are identifiers (name, email address, IP address), internet activity (pages viewed, referring URLs) and general location inferred from your IP address. We collect them from you, your device and our analytics providers, use them for the purposes listed above, and disclose them only to the service providers described above.
Other states. Residents of Utah, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut and other states with consumer privacy laws may have similar rights, which vary by state, such as to access, delete, correct or get a copy of their data and to opt out of targeted advertising or sales. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision with “Appeal” in the subject line.
How to Submit a Privacy Request
Email contact@fashionft.com with “Privacy Request” in the subject line and tell us which right you want to use. We verify requests by matching details you give us, such as the email address you used to comment or contact us, with information we hold. An authorized agent may submit a request with your written permission. We aim to respond within legal deadlines (generally one month under the GDPR and 45 days under U.S. state laws) and will tell you if we need an extension the law permits.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Because there is no common standard for responding to browser “Do Not Track” (DNT) signals, the Site does not currently respond to them.
Some state laws treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information, but if that changes, we will honor GPC signals as valid opt-out requests.
Children’s Privacy
Our content is written for adults, including parents shopping for kids’ bags. The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information, consistent with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
International Visitors and Data Transfers
Fashionft is based in the United States. If you visit from another country, your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., and possibly in other countries where our service providers operate. Data protection laws there may differ from yours. Where the law requires, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers, such as standard contractual clauses offered by our service providers.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, post a more prominent notice.
